The engineering story of building MeteorCloud

MeteorCloud began with an engineering constraint: distributed infrastructure is difficult enough without adding opaque platform behavior on top of it. The goal was to design a system that operators and developers could inspect, understand, and change with confidence. That pushed the architecture toward a clear control plane model. Scheduling, workload placement, networking, and rollout logic had to behave predictably, not as isolated features but as connected parts of one operating system for edge and cloud environments. Observability also had to be part of the foundation. Rather than treating telemetry as an add-on, the design work considered logs, metrics, traces, and system events as core signals for understanding runtime behavior and deployment health. The result is still a build story, not a finish line. But the engineering direction is already defined: reduce hidden complexity, keep infrastructure behavior legible, and make change safer through better system design.
